The John Deere Pavilion Welcomes Four-Millionth Guest

MOLINE, Illinois (October 03, 2018) - It started out like an ordinary day at the John Deere Pavilion, with guests waiting for the doors to open at 9:00 a.m., and guests rolling in throughout the morning. But inside, it was far from normal as Pavilion officials waited with anticipation to greet Kurt Snow, from Streator, Illinois, who entered the facility just before 10:00 a.m. to be welcomed as the Pavilion’s four-millionth guest.

Snow’s family has deep connections to John Deere. “My 91-year-old grandfather owns five tractors, one of which is a 1941 Model B that my great-grandfather purchased new,” he said. “We actually restored all five of his tractors to running condition over the past year and participated in the Streator Fourth of July Parade with them. My grandfather was the mechanic while I did the painting and procured the decals,” Snow added.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Snow as our four-millionth guest today,” said Brigitte Tapscott, Manager of the John Deere Attractions. “This is a significant milestone for us and we are happy to celebrate it with him and his son.”

Upon entering the Pavilion, Snow and his three-year-old son were greeted by officials and presented with a gift package including a variety of John Deere gear and a certificate to be used at the John Deere Store. Snow plans to come again soon, but next time he’ll bring the whole family, including his wife, and two older children who were in school today.

The John Deere Pavilion opened to the public in 1997 and immediately became one of the top attractions in the Quad Cities and the state of Illinois. When it opened, the attraction was designed to celebrate the heritage of the heartland and exhibits focused on the past, present and future of agriculture. In 2012, the facility underwent a full renovation and now offers a wide variety of fun and informative hands-on exhibits about Deere & Company's global businesses and products, its rich history and heritage, and how it's helping meet the challenges of a growing global population. Throughout its history, the Pavilion has remained a top attraction locally, and regionally.
