We developed the PowerTech™ 13.6L engine with a clean-sheet design. This means we designed the product from the ground up, leveraging our best technologies in new ways to meet both market and customer demands.
Our product development approach for the 13.6L resulted in an engine that delivers new levels of reliability, durability, flexibility, and serviceability for a wide array of heavy-duty applications. Not to mention, it's all wrapped in a compact package that is easy to integrate, simple to maintain, and EPA Final Tier 4 and EU Stage V compliant.
We designed the 13.6L engine with reliability and durability at its core, so you can count on it to perform in the extremes of rugged off-highway applications — all while surpassing industry and customer expectations. To achieve this, we simplified the design wherever possible, making it compact and reducing the vibration. Total engine lifecycle was a point of emphasis for the 13.6L and was improved by optimizing thermal management systems, fluid efficiency, and more.
Our engineers developed the 13.6L engine to meet power and packaging needs for a wide array of heavy-duty applications. In fact, the 13.6L engine offers more power in a smaller package than its predecessor. Further improving flexibility, it provides the capability to add more pumps with an integrated power take-off, as well as multiple aux drive connections.
The 13.6L engine was engineered specifically with service and repair in mind. In fact, the engineering team worked with the service department as part of the design process — resulting in a reduction in mean time to repair (MTTR) from the previous model. Plus, with more than 4,000 John Deere service locations worldwide, you never have to go far to find expert assistance.
