Inside John Deere’s $13.5M Reman Expansion
The doors are officially open in Strafford, Missouri, and for Kevin Schrag, it feels like a milestone worth pausing for.
“This is one of those moments you stop and celebrate,” said Schrag, Reman factory manager. “We’ve been building toward this for a long time, and it’s exciting to see it come together for both our community and our customers.”
John Deere’s $13.5 million investment will expand its Strafford remanufacturing facility by 120,000 square feet, adding space to store core, the lifeblood of remanufacturing.
We knew back then that Reman was going to keep growing. Designing the facility with expansion in mind gave us the flexibility to meet demand as our customers’ needs evolved.

That added capacity matters, especially as John Deere Reman continues to expand its product portfolio. In recent years, the team has launched new offerings including motor grader axles, multiple Final Tier 4 engine models, turbos, and engine controllers. Last year alone, Deere introduced $20 million worth of new Reman products, bringing the total portfolio to 2,300 unique part numbers.
The expansion builds on a long-term growth plan set in motion more than a decade ago. When the facility opened thirteen years ago, the original 280,000-square-foot building was designed with future investment in mind, along with a commitment to creating high-quality manufacturing jobs. At the time, John Deere committed to providing 55 new high-quality jobs at this facility. Today, more than 200 people work in this location.
“We knew back then that Reman was going to keep growing,” Schrag said. “Designing the facility with expansion in mind gave us the flexibility to meet demand as our customers’ needs evolved.”
