Crandall Bowles is chairman, Springs Industries, Inc. and chairman, The Springs Company in Fort Mill, South Carolina. She was elected to the position in 2007.


She joined Springs Industries in 1973 as a financial analyst. She was named executive vice president of The Springs Company, a subsidiary, in 1978, and was later appointed its president in 1982. In 1992, Bowles was named executive vice president, growth and development of Springs Industries, and one year later was named the company's executive vice president of textile production. In 1995 she was appointed the president of Springs Industries' bath fashions group. In January 1997, she became president and chief operating officer of the company, and in December of that year, she was named its chief executive officer. In April 1998, Bowles also was elected as the company's chairman. In 2006, she became co-chairman and co-chief executive officer of Springs Global US, Inc. and Springs Global Participacoes S.A.; and chairman of Springs Industries, Inc.


She has been a member of Springs Industries' board of directors since 1978, and also is a member of the board of directors of JP Morgan Chase & Company and Sara Lee Corporation. Bowles serves on the boards of Carolina Thread Trail, the Springs Close Foundation, Inc., the Packard Center for ALS Research, and the advisory boards of the Global Research Institute, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity. She is a member of The Business Council, the University of North Carolina Press, the Committee of 200, the Wilderness Society, the Economic Club of New York, the Brookings Institute, and the South Carolina Climate, Energy and Commerce Advisory Committee.


Bowles previously served on the Deere & Company Board of Directors from May 30, 1990 through Feb. 23, 1994.


Bowles holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Wellesley College, and a master's of business administration from Columbia University.
