70 Series STS Combine Harvesters : Cab & Controls

The 70 Series Combine cab is designed to give the operator the optimum in comfort and convenience.

70 Series Cab

Some of the cab features are as follows:

  • Welded Unibody™ construction eliminates use of bolted components.
  • Two floor and two rear-wall rubber mounts isolate cab from separator to minimise vibrations and cab pitching.
  • Sound-absorbing material and minimal noise paths and openings provide a low noise level.
  • Centre-mounted design with large areas of tinted glass and narrow cornerposts provide an unobstructed view of header equipment.
  • Pivoting access ladder with continuous handrails and closed back provides easy, convenient access to cab.
  • Large, left-hand cab landing provides easy access for taking grain tank sample.
  • Radio ready with two prewired speakers and antenna.

ClimaTrak™ automatic temperature control

The cab is pressurised with ClimaTrak™ automatic temperature control to provide the operator with a comfortable, dust-free environment and excellent temperature control. ClimaTrak™ provides:

  • One dial for the operator to select the desired temperature in the cab.
  • Fan speed and heater/air conditioner system automatically adjust to maintain preselected temperature.
  • Manual settings include defog setting and manual fan speed selections.

CommandTouch™ armrest

CommandTouch™ armrest

Soft-touch function control switches provide a comfortable feel of the machine's operation while status lights on the control switches indicate active functions. Control switches are arranged to allow the operator easy and productive operation. Backlighting of control switches makes for easier nighttime operation. The CommandCenter™ Armrest Display provides key information and easy control of critical combine functions.

CommandCenter™ armrest display features:

  • CommandCenter™ is mounted on the CommandArm™ providing excellent visibility to display during harvest while allowing an unobstructed view of front head equipment.
  • CommandCenter™ pivots right to left a full 45 degrees for clear, glare-free visibility of the display, regardless of operator position or light conditions.
  • The various information pages within the CommandCenter™ can be selected or reconfigured by the operator either by using the hot keys located above the display screen window, or by using the navigation tools on the armrest console.

Multi-function control handle features:

  • Ergonomically-shaped hydro handle with adjustable three-position hand rest.
  • Hydrostatic ground speed and direction.
  • Quick-stop button allows disengaging header and unloading auger drive/swing in one convenient motion, also shuts off the exit lighting when combine is shut off at night and is not needed.
  • Reel height (feederhouse speed) with fore/aft remote reel control switch.
  • Two speed header raise/lower with optional Contour-Master™ control switch.
  • Three-position header height resume and reel resume, and corn head deck plate resume system activation switches.
  • Five-position unloading auger swing and unloading auger engage controls.

CommandTouch™ cornerpost

Base equipment on all combines are the triple-display digital tachometer, VisionTrak™ display and active header control (AHC) display.

The tachometer displays combine ground in the top display window. Middle and lower display windows display operator's choice of engine rpm, threshing rpm, concave clearance, cleaning fan rpm, or feederhouse backshaft rpm. The tachometer display also contains continuous fuel and engine temperature displays.

The VisionTrak™ display, located just above the tachometer, includes both grain-loss and tailings monitors. Operators can continuously view both cleaning shoe and separator losses, along with combined losses. These features, along with a tailings monitor displaying the volume of material in the tailings elevator, provide the operator with accurate, on-the-go information about the combine's harvesting performance. The current grain-loss monitor sensitivity is continuously shown at the top of the display for the operator's reference while harvesting. The VisionTrak™ display also contains the indicator for optional hydraulically-adjustable deck plate systems.

The Active Header Control (AHC) display is located just above the VisionTrak™ display in the cornerpost, which displays information to the operator for Contour-Master™, header height resume (HHR), header height sensing (HHS), corn head deck plate resume, and header reel resume (HRR).

Three master alarm indicator lights at the bottom of the cornerpost, which function along with the alarm messages in the display on the CommandCenter™, ensure that the operator is informed of any problems or conditions on the combine.

TouchSet™ automatic combine adjust

TouchSet&trade automatic combine adjust

TouchSet™ automatic combine adjust (ACA) is in base equipment on all 70 Series STS Combines. With the selection of a crop and the touch of a button, the ACA will adjust threshing rotor rpm, cleaning fan rpm, concave clearance, main chaffer opening, and sieve opening.

There are 25 factory crop settings available. In addition, one customised set of adjustments can be stored for each of these by the operator. Plus, store nine personal crop settings for crops being harvested that are not preloaded from the factory.

External switches are also conveniently located at ground level on the left-hand side of the combine. This allows easy adjustment of the shoe area if the operator is on the ground checking losses or needing to fine-tune sieve adjustments.

Set point

Set point

Set point adjusted functions allow for even more precise machine settings and allow the operator to continue an adjustment while returning his attention back to combine and header operation.

When a set point adjusted function is selected within the CommandCenter™ or on the armrest console, the CommandCenter™ display will show the current adjustment setting. By moving the selector wheel on the armrest the operator selects the desired setting which is also displayed on the CommandCenter™. The machine will make the change to that setting and continue to display both until the adjustment is completed. There is no need for the operator to continue to hold a switch while an adjustment is made, and no over/under shooting a desired value.

Set point adjusted settings include threshing speed, threshing clearance, sieve opening, chaffer opening, cleaning fan speed, straw spreader, PowerCast™speed, CommandTouch™ multi-speed feederhouse drive, corn head deck plate spacing, header-height sensitivity, header raise/lower rate and draper belt speed.
