StarFire™ RTK is compatible with any GreenStar™ AutoTrac™ system and takes GreenStar guidance products to the next level of accuracy and repeatability by building on the existing StarFire™ receiver. The StarFire™ RTK system consists of a local base station that transmits high accuracy corrections to the vehicle StarFire™ receiver using RTK radios. The StarFire™ receiver on the RTK-equipped vehicle must have a direct line of sight with the base station in order to receive the RTK signal. At distances beyond 10 kilometres, accuracy and reliability of the signal will be degraded.
StarFire™ RTK eliminates nearly all GPS drift, delivering the repeatability that a satellite based differential correction signal cannot achieve. This repeatability is especially useful in those applications where GPS drift is not tolerable, such as strip till, drip tape, and bedded crop applications.
StarFire™ RTK delivers sub-2.5 centimetre accuracy when measured at the StarFire™ receiver. However, AutoTrac system accuracy is dependent on a combination of variables:
RTK Extend
StarFire™ RTK includes an Industry Exclusive Feature called RTK EXTEND. When the base station signal is interrupted and does not reach the vehicle receiver, RTK Extend sustains RTK accuracy for up to 15 minutes (2 minutes of RTK Extend is available if the base station has been powered less than 1 hour). This means that temporary obstructions such as trees, hills, machine sheds, or other structure may not cause RTK downtime as with other RTK systems.
Attachments
A repeater bundle is available that can be used to extend the base station signal around obstructions such as hills or tree lines. A repeater can only be used to repeat a signal from a base station to a vehicle; a repeater cannot be used to repeat from one repeater to another repeater.
Extension harnesses are also available to permit mounting the base station receiver or RTK radio on an elevated structure to improve the reliability of the base station transmission.
