John Deere's Precision Tines™ Deliver Precise Core Integrity and Hole Depth Superintendents can Rely on Use After Use

ORLANDO, Florida (February 5, 2014) – John Deere Golf today launched Precision Tines™, a lineup of leading quality tines designed to match the performance standards of the new A40 and V40 PrecisionCore aerators. This next generation of tines delivers the aeration hole consistency and depth superintendents need to meet the level of best-in-class turf care the industry demands.

The new line of Precision Tines includes three tiers of product, Precision Standard™, Precision Plus™ and Precision Ultra™, all of which are compatible with use on greens, tees, roughs and fairways. This allows superintendents to customize their aeration technique based on the unique needs of their course.

"In speaking with our customers about how to improve their aeration applications, we received requests for a tine solution that is durable enough to stand up to different soil types, yet engineered with fine detail and accuracy," said Brooks Hastings, product marketing manager, John Deere Golf. "We were able to achieve this balance with the Precision Tines, which are an ideal compliment to the new A40 and V40 PrecisionCore aerators."

All of the solid tines in the line start as a single raw solid alloy rod, which from there are machined for precision. This allows for reduced impurities, increased strength and durability, the elimination of grind marks and a smoother exterior and interior for proper core injection. The hollow top and side eject tines start out as hollow alloy tubes and are formed by rotary swaging, providing a smoother interior and exterior surface for easier ground penetration and less risk of plugging.

The three-tier lineup starts with the Precision Standard tines. These are manufactured using a standard heat-treating process for performance and durability. The Precision Plus tier is manufactured using a proprietary heat-treating process which offers premium performance and durability for excellent hole quality and long life.

The third tier, or Precision Ultra tines, also completes a sandblasting process in which both the interior and exterior of the Precision Ultra tines are sandblasted to produce smoother surfaces, which allows the coring material to easily pass through with reduced risk of plugging. The Precision Ultra tines are also complemented with a carbide tip, which is installed using 45-degree angles to accurately center the tip onto the tine. This creates an even surface and provides less resistance and better penetration.

The new Precision Tines are currently available for purchase. For more information on these products contact your local John Deere Golf distributor or sign up at www.JohnDeere.com/Golf for the latest news and product info.
