MOLINE, Illinois (March 30, 2015) – Officials at the John Deere Pavilion, Deere & Company's visitor center in downtown Moline, Ill., are taking the term "nesting" to a whole new level as they hatch dozens of ducklings as part of the Pavilion's annual duck hatching event.
Starting Tuesday, March 31 and running through Saturday, April 4, visitors to the John Deere Pavilion will see ducks hatching, sprouting their feathers and having fun in their pond and playground. Those not able to visit in person can catch all the hatching action on our live web cam at www.JohnDeerePavilion.com/DuckHatching. The web cam goes live at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31.
"We love hosting this event each year, because it's not only incredibly cute to see, but it is a fantastic educational opportunity for children to watch the process as it happens," said Kristen Veto, assistant manager of the John Deere Pavilion. "It's not something you get to see everyday and our guests love being a part of it."
Throughout the week, children can also make their own duck hat as a featured craft. As always, attendance and participation is free. The Pavilion will be closed for Easter on Sunday, April 5.
New this year, guests have an opportunity to be photographed while holding a duckling. Photo opportunities will begin on Wednesday, April 1 and will be staged in a Spring-themed setting. The John Deere Pavilion will not provide a photographer; rather, parents are encouraged to bring a camera to capture the photos of their children holding a duckling.
Hours of operation during the duck hatching event are: Tuesday – Friday, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The John Deere Pavilion offers free admission, is open to the public year-round, and welcomes group tours. The John Deere Store, located adjacent to the Pavilion, stocks a large and unique selection of the latest officially-licensed John Deere products including clothing, toys, books, and collectibles. The Pavilion hosts free Kids Craft Days on the third Saturday of each month featuring a different theme generally tied to the season. The next Kids Craft Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
