Planter Precision Upgrades

Planting crop in a field.

Your Planter. UPGRADED.

Your equipment is a big investment and you've got it running just how you want it. Why not get even more return on that investment? Agronomic studies have found that planting within the optimum weather window and achieving uniform emergence are the two leading contributors to maximizing yields. We make it easy for you to get that strong start with the latest row unit technology. Similar to purchasing new from the factory, you get a new serial number and a 1-year warranty — for a lower price than buying new.

Electric Drive Planting Technology

The right metering system is the foundation of every productive planting season. John Deere offers two electric drive options – ExactEmerge™ and MaxEmerge™ 5e – each engineered to deliver better accuracy, fewer input losses, and more confidence in the cab.

Both the Ultimate Planter Upgrade and Meter Upgrade kits include SeedStar™ 5 for most configurations1. Monitor seed population, singulation, spacing, and ride quality in real time on the G5 Display. SeedStar 5 connects your planter to the full John Deere Precision Technology ecosystem, including AutoPath™, AutoTrac™ Turn Automation, and Operations Center. Spend less time setting up and more time planting.

ExactEmerge™ Meter Upgrade

When soil conditions and moisture levels say it’s go-time, you need a planter that can help you finish more acres in a short working window. Every acre not planted faces the potential for yield and profitability loss. Planting with ExactEmerge pays you back by increasing planter productivity and maximizing the acres you can cover during your optimum planting window. Plant faster at speeds up to 10 mph with pinpoint population and spacing accuracy. With this productivity boost, you can plant more than 100 additional acres per day. And by minimizing yield reduction linked to late planting, you can gain over $10 more per acre compared to a traditional planter².

MaxEmerge™ 5e

Keep your planter but say goodbye to time-consuming maintenance on chains, clutches, sprockets, shafts, and bearings – parts that wear over time. With MaxEmerge 5e electric drive, you’ll get:

  • Planting speeds up to 5 mph
  • Row-by-row control to give you precise planting rates for each row, based on specific field conditions
  • Individual row shutoffs to reduce seed waste by shutting off seed flow in areas where it’s not needed
  • Turn compensation that automatically adjusts seed metering on curved rows to achieve up to 20% population accuracy improvement3

ExactChem™

Don’t let pests rob your yield potential. Let ExactChem give you more flexibility and accuracy by adding electric drive to your insecticide management.

  • Dispense at rates of 1-13 lb/acre (.45-5.9 kg/acre)
  • Operate at planting speeds of 1.2-10 mph (1.8-16 km/h)
  • Control your application down to the row with row-by-row section control independent of the seed
Fertilizer being applied to seed.

ExactShot™

Promote early root development and save on fertilizer cost during planting. ExactShot delivers a precise dose of starter fertilizer only where needed, giving you substantial savings when applying fertilizer.

  • Save up to 60% of in-furrow nutrient costs4
  • Switch between Dosing and Continuous mode from cab
  • Option to convert your existing ExactRate™ system to ExactShot

Furrow Vision™

Stream live images and planting data directly to your G5 Display. Get near-real-time views into seed placement, residue, furrow formation, and depth, all from your cab. Three camera modules across left, center, and right wing rows put precision in plain sight.

  • Make on-the-go adjustments for consistent trench quality and seed depth
  • Optimize depth, residue management, and trench quality across any field condition
  • Identify over- or under-applied downforce before it costs you at harvest

Downforce Automation powered by FurrowVision™

Setting the right downforce across varying field conditions can be a challenge. Simplify the process by automatically optimizing downforce settings, creating the ideal furrow for every field. FurrowVision measures ground contact, soil resistance, and furrow health to optimize furrow conditions and planter performance.

ExactRate Liquid Fertilizer System.

ExactRate™ Liquid Fertilizer System

Maximize your yield potential by applying nitrogen during each planting pass with the ExactRate Liquid Fertilizer System upgrade.

  • Average of 4.3% (up to 12%) reduction in fertilizer costs3
  • Performance up to 10 mph (16.1 km/h)
Individual Row Hydraulic Downforce.

Individual Row Hydraulic Downforce

Ensures consistent planting depth and optimal seed-to-soil contact, even in rapidly changing field conditions. The Gen 2 Precision Upgrade Kit instantly adjusts downforce row-by-row as conditions change, so uniform emergence is never left to chance.

  • Adjusts downforce 5x per second – 58% faster than active pneumatic systems5
  • Missing uniform emergence can cost you 10–18 bu/acre (1,365–2,457 kg/ha)6
  • Fully integrated with your John Deere planter and display
Frame Weight Distribution on planter.

Frame Weight Distribution

Reduce compaction in the center section of CCS™ planters with a Frame Weight Distribution Precision Upgrade. This bolt-on option redistributes weight to the wings where it can be used to increase downforce on the other sections.

  • Redistributes weight to wings where it can be used to increase downforce on row units
  • Reduces compaction in center section of CCS planters

Ultimate LED Lighting

Extend your working days into night with Ultimate LED Lighting. Featuring illumination across the entire toolbar, this Precision Upgrade provides improved visibility beyond the ends of the planter so you can light up the night.

  • In-tank mounting for full tank illumination for seed level monitoring
  • Added illumination under the bar on each row-unit for better detection of obstacles and plugs

Planting Window

Correct soil temperatures. Ideal moisture levels. Just two of the key variables you contend with each season when it comes to meeting your optimal planting window. And missing that window could potentially result in lower yields. With an ExactEmerge™ row-unit upgrade, you can ensure your seed is put into the ground with pinpoint population and spacing accuracy at speeds up to 10 mph (16 km/h).

Uniform Emergence

Even emergence leads to healthier yields. Make sure your planter has the right Precision Upgrade to make it happen, like individual row hydraulic downforce (IRHD). The built-in accumulator helps take shock out of your row units to ensure optimal seed-to-soil contact.

Correct Population

Saving seed cost begins with eliminating waste. And when you add electric drive row-units to your planter, you’ll reduce overplanting with individual meter control that allows for greater curve performance and individual row shutoff when crossing sections already planted.

Nutrient Placement

Save on fuel costs by applying nutrients at the right rate, in the right place and at the same time as your planting pass. With an ExactRate™ fertilizer system precision upgrade, you’ll have the capability to apply pre-emergent fertilizer in-furrow saving you on multiple trips through the field.
