Spring Maintenance

Row Crop and 4WD Tractor DIY Spring Maintenance

1. Clean and Inspect

  • Wash off dirt, crop residue, and debris from the tractor, radiator, and undercarriage.
  • Inspect hoses, belts, and hydraulic lines for cracks or leaks.
  • Check for loose bolts, worn bushings, and damaged guards.

2. Fluids

  • Check engine oil level, change oil and filter if due.
  • Inspect and top off hydraulic and transmission fluid levels, look for contamination.
  • Verify coolant level and condition, flush if interval is reached.

3. Filters

  • Replace fuel filters and air filters if clogged or at service interval.
  • Clean radiator fins and air intake screens.

4. Lubrication

  • Grease all pivot points, PTO shafts, steering linkages, and hitch components.
  • Lubricate driveline and front axle components.

5. Electrical and Battery

  • Check battery charge and clean terminals.
  • Test lights, indicators, and safety switches.

6. Tires and Brakes

  • Inspect tire pressure and tread; adjust to spec.
  • Check brake function and parking brake adjustment.

7. 4WD and Driveline

  • Inspect constant velocity (CV) boots and front differential oil level.
  • Grease universal joints and check for wear.
