David Thorne is Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division for Deere & Company, a position he has held since July 2017. He has global responsibility for sales and marketing activities within the existing C&F business.
Thorne began his career with John Deere in 1997 in the Ag & Turf division. In the years that followed, he held various sales and marketing roles focused on working with dealers and customers. In 2006, David assumed the role of Director, Turf Sales and Marketing, Europe, Africa, Middle East based in Mannheim, Germany. In 2011, Thorne was named Director of Deere & Company Corporate Strategy and in 2012 became the President of John Deere Water, Inc. In 2014, prior to assuming his current role, Thorne was appointed Director, Worldwide Marketing & Support, Construction & Forestry Division. Before joining Deere, Thorne worked with UTICOR Technology, Inc., and Clemson University.
Thorne has a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Bradley University and an MBA from Clemson University. He also completed the Global Executive Development Program at the Tuck Business School of Dartmouth College. He is a former United Way Executive Champion for the C&F division and is a member of both the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) Construction Sector Board and the Deere-Hitachi Joint Venture Board.
