Michael J. Matera is Senior Vice President, Global Credit, Global Trade Finance and Region 1, a position he has held since July 2017. He is responsible for global deployment of the JDF credit-delivery, customer, contract, and asset-management processes. He will also lead business operations in Region 1 which includes Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Matera joined the company in 2008 as Vice President & Finance Director for JDF. In May 2009, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and Finance Director at JDF. In August 2011, he moved to Germany, where he assumed the responsibilities of Finance Director for the Ag & Turf Division for Regions 2 and 3 and for the Crop Harvesting, Crop Care, and Hay & Forage platforms, and later for Regions 1 and 2 and for the Tractor platform. Matera was Director of Finance Planning, Accounting, and Finance at Deere & Company and in April of 2015 he was appointed Senior Vice President, International Finance for John Deere Financial.
Before coming to Deere, Matera worked for Wells Fargo Financial, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including Treasurer, Senior Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis, and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, he spent seven years, the final three as an audit manager, with Deloitte & Touche.
Matera graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in accounting and is a certified public accountant. He serves on the board of the Des Moines Performing Arts (Iowa).
