1. Supplier Quality Engineer (Ningbo) TOP
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This position is responsible for the supplier quality/development management during sourcing and implementation stages of John Deere global supply management.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead project implementation team to manage and execute global sourcing projects.
  • Participates in unit PDP (Product Delivery Process) teams as the Quality representative, ensuring quality activities and plans are formulated and followed. Engages in applying/leading Quality tools in Product Delivery Process (PDP) teams. Encourages early interaction of both customer and supplier input to team activities. Participates in Design Process and Assembly Reviews (DPARs), print reviews, and design reviews of new products.
  • Monitors and facilitates quality activities for part approval, verifies manufacturing processes (control plans, assembly instructions) and confirms process capability. Coordinates and manages quality aspect of sample parts approval process, including DPAR, ISIR, PPAP, Testing, Packaging and Production Ramp-Up.
  • Engages in applying/leading Quality tools on Customer Support Process (CSP), Continuous Improvement (CI), and/or Value Improvement (VI) teams. Executes John Deere Quality Control Plan where implemented.
  • Investigates product quality problems, determines root cause for quality problems, gathers and analyzes data and implements corrective action to reduce or eliminate non-value waste resulting from non-conformances, scrap or reclaim. Drives continuous improvement and coordinates supplier non-conforming corrective actions (NCCA).
  • Assists in identifying, communicating and resolving supplier quality problems. Engages in supplier quality plan formulation as necessary. Conducts audits of new and existing suppliers to determine manufacturing capability and adherence to accepted quality practices (Red Flag & JDS-G223 audits). Drives prevention actions.
  • Provides training and/or supervision to co-workers and suppliers on quality procedures, systems and tools to monitor and control supplier performance and/or to implement cost-saving ideas to improve Deere products to meet customer expectations.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum experience of 10 years in commodity related industry and 5 years in production/process related work. Automotive background a plus.
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • Strong experience in supplier evaluation and supplier development.
  • Excellent understanding and practical experience in quality systems (QS9000/TS16949/ISO9000) root cause analysis, and preventive QE techniques (FMEA, Control Plans, flow diagrams, PPAP, QFD, DFM, DFA, SPC, metrology and gage R&R, GD&T). ISO9001 or QS9000 registered auditor/lead auditor preferred.

    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists DGM, Quality & Manufacturing to oversee all quality functions, including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Supplier Quality
  • Monitors progress to achieve unit quality objectives and aligns processes

    1. Manufacturing Engineer (Beijing/Tianjin: 2)TOP

    MAJOR PURPOSE:
    Provide manufacturing engineering support for units mainly in, but not limit to, China region. Primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and performing manufacturing engineering projects or processes. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support, including contractors. This position will be part of enterprise engineering group and may receive work directions from the enterprise group.

    MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Provides support, trouble shooting, executing projects and training for current and new operations in China or location outside of China.
  • Provides support or execution for system integration projects. The scope of project could include, but not limit to, material handling, production planning, process control and logistic system to ensure quality with efficient process
  • Provides support to develop routing, methods, layouts, tools, documentation, process control plans and training for these activities based on requests from units.

  • 2. Manufacturing Engineer – Paint Processes (Ningbo)TOP

    Major Purpose

    Provide leadership for Manufacturing Processes with an emphasis in paint systems engineering. This assignment requires a minimum 5 years experience in the specification, design and integration of paint systems into the overall manufacturing process.

    Job Description

    • Leads, plans, coordinates and performs manufacturing engineering for paint processes related to new product programs, factory redevelopment and continuous improvement programs.
    • Conducts feasibility studies for the integration of new paint systems or paint system modifications to green field as well as existing manufacturing operations.
    • Provides input to the Manufacturing Design process to structure the 3D models, tools and fixtures used in the coating process.
    • Manages Engineering Change Management activities and processes related to paint equipment purchase and may act as general contractor or contract administrator for major paint system installations.
    • Represents the China Group in Enterprise and Divisional communities of practices and supports groups for manufacturing planning.
    • Uses computer aided design, process planning and facility planning tools to develop manufacturing process and facility plans.   • Work with PDC/EPDC and outside suppliers to ensure parts availability.
