Dr. Bernhard Haas is Senior Vice President, Global Platform – Tractor, Agriculture and Turf Division, a position he has held since May 2009. He is responsible for the manufacture of the tractor platform for Deere & Company's global agriculture and turf equipment operations.
Haas joined Deere & Company in 1986 at the John Deere Werke Mannheim (Germany), holding several positions of increasing responsibility. He transferred to the John Deere Product Engineering Center in Waterloo, Iowa, in 1991, and returned to the Mannheim factory as Manager of Focus Factory Drive Train in 1994. He later served as Manager, Product Engineering; General Manager, John Deere Werke Zweibrücken; and General Manager, John Deere Werke Mannheim. Prior to his current position, Haas was named Vice President, Manufacturing – Global Tractor & Implement Sourcing in 2006.
He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the University Mannheim, and the Club of Bologna, Italy. Haas is also a member of the German Engineering Association.
Haas received a master's degree in mechanical engineering in 1979 from the University of Karlsruhe. He later served as a postdoctorate research associate at the Professorship for Industrial Management and Science at the University of Kaiserslautern, where he received his Doctorate in Business Administration in 1986.
