Prof. Dr. Ing. Joachim Milberg has been a member of BMW's Board of Management since 1993, and was named BMW's chairman of the Board of Management in 1999, where he remained until his retirement in May 2002.
Prior to joining BMW in 1993, Milberg taught at Munich (Germany) Technical University. He also served as director of the Research Institute for Machine Tools and Management Science with the Centre for Production Automation and Robot Technology in Munich, and the Production Technology User Centre in Augsburg, Germany.
Milberg also serves on the board of directors of Bertelsmann AG; BMW AG, Munich (Chairman of the Supervisory Board); Festo AG, Esslingen; SAP AG, Walldorf; and ZF Friedrichshafen AG. He is vice president of acatech – Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften.
Milberg earned his doctorate in production engineering at the Technical University of Berlin in 1971.
