Reliability on land and sea
A Quebec lobsterman comes full circle in his career with John Deere equipment
Alain Langford is a farmer of both the land and sea. Born in the Magdalen Islands of Quebec, Canada, Alain farmed with his father, using John Deere farming equipment throughout his youth. He has also fished commercially alongside his father since he was 17 years old.
Now 28 years later, Alain is a full-time lobster fisherman out of Havre-aux-Maisons, Quebec. Six years ago, he purchased his father’s 11-meter (37 ft.) lobster boat, the Cap David. Although
he no longer farms land, his fond memories of farming with John Deere equipment lead him to purchase a John Deere PowerTech 6068SFM50 marine diesel engine to repower the Cap David.
"I chose the engine because over my lifetime, John Deere products proved to be reliable," says Alain. "I can also easily get parts locally from my marine dealer. I don’t have to wait for parts to fly in from overseas."
