Landowner:
John Deere Wind Energy offers the opportunity for long-term, steady income from harvesting wind ― a new cash crop ― through development of commercial scale wind energy projects for landowners. John Deere Wind Energy, a reliable and trusted resource, makes it easy for Landowners to profit from renewable energy with minimal investment, and improves the quality and productivity of their land by helping them generate predictable income in rural communities today and for future generations.
How can communities benefit?
Wind project development can create jobs, additional tax base and additional revenue sources, benefiting all communities involved. John Deere is committed to rural development by providing the knowledge and resources necessary to make sustainable, renewable energy plans a reality.
Are all locations suitable for wind energy projects?
Not all locations provide an economically feasible opportunity to produce wind energy. In addition to the amount and quality of the wind resources in a location, local permitting, interconnection and utility relationships all come into play.
Developing a wind energy project requires a significant commitment of time, knowledge and resources, and as a result, some projects may not be feasible.
What you need to help make your project a success.
- A strong wind regime - generally exceeding 15 mph measured at 50 meters.
- State, county and other local governmental and environmental approvals.
- An experienced wind developer or wind energy consultant (John Deere Wind Energy for example).
- A long term Power Purchase Agreement with a creditworthy cooperative or utility.
- An accessible location near a distribution or transmission line and approval to connect to it at a known cost.
- Ideally, at least 500 acres available for a long-term lease.
