LENEXA, KS (March 02, 2007) — John Deere introduces two new reports now available with the Apex Farm Management software. The addition of the acreage and production reports will help producers capture important crop information and data to simplify the reporting process for crop insurance.

In order for producers to gain the greatest value from their crop insurance, they need detailed records to determine what crops were planted, how many acres were planted, what cropping practices were used and other important crop production data. Accumulating the appropriate information can be time–consuming, and incomplete reports can impact benefits the customer hoped to achieve through the use of a crop insurance program.

"Apex software is the latest desktop field mapping software from John Deere," says Casey Dray, marketing representative, John Deere Ag Management Solutions. "In addition to all the features of Apex, we're now providing production reports to help with crop insurance reporting requirements."

The acreage report captures all planting or seeding information by field. For example, it compiles detailed information on crop type, planting or seeding methods, acres planted, and dates for all seeding activities.

The production report accumulates harvesting data, including acres harvested, average yield, moisture content, and total crop production.

"This user–friendly software will make it much easier when a grower submits crop insurance information to their agent," explains Dennis Daggett, senior vice president, John Deere Risk Protection* (JDRP). "The functionality of this software greatly simplifies the reporting process for growers, leaving them with less paperwork and more accurate documentation. It's like having an electronic field record at your fingertips throughout the planting and harvest seasons."

John Deere crop insurance agents are being trained to use the new Apex software reporting system to help producers meet all of their crop insurance needs. By contacting their John Deere crop insurance agent, growers can arrange for a personal assessment that will demonstrate how Apex functionality can greatly simplify the crop insurance reporting process.
