NEW JOHN DEERE RATE CONTROLLER SYSTEM FOR NH3 AND LIQUID FERTILIZER APPLICATION

LENEXA, Kansas (August 23, 2007) — Precision farming technology continues to grow as producers adopt innovative practices to bring more efficiency to their operations. The GreenStar™ 2 (GS2) Rate Controller was introduced last year to help growers automatically manage and control spray rates on pull-type sprayers. Now, GS2 will be expanded this winter for compatibility with certain NH3 and liquid fertilizer applications.

"With the new delivery system, an operator controls fertilizer application using the color touch-screen GS2 display without the need for a second console in the cab," says Kayla Reynolds, product marketing manager, John Deere Ag Management Solutions. "This reduces cab clutter for customers who currently have a GS2 display for other functions and a Raven controller for spray rate control."
The GS2 display is a multi-function unit that also provides controls and information for precision guidance, mapping and documentation of fields and inputs, and Swath Control Pro™. This display integrates with John Deere vehicles and can easily be moved from machine to machine.
"We will continue to develop new technology to help our customers gain even more value from the GreenStar products they have already purchased," explains Reynolds. "Our goal is to develop innovative precision farming systems to help producers reduce inputs, save fuel, reduce operator fatigue and become even more efficient and profitable."
