NEW 637 FIVE-SECTION DISK ADDED TO TILLAGE LINEUP

LENEXA, Kansas (August 23, 2007) — As growers choose larger horsepower tractors to cover more acres in less time, they also need wider tillage tools to efficiently work the soil. John Deere introduces a new five-section disk, the 637 Disk, at widths of 42-foot 4-inch and 45-foot 2-inch.

"These five-section disks are an expansion of our field-proven 637 Tandem Disk line that many growers rely on for residue management and seedbed preparation," says Dave Wendt, product manager, John Deere Des Moines Works. "We needed a larger disk to meet the needs of large-acreage producers who wanted to fully use tractor horsepower to get more done in less time."

The new five-section, flex-folding disks are designed to follow ground contours for superior soil mixing or seedbed preparation. Adjustments are easily done on the go from the cab of the tractor, depending on field conditions, to assure level and consistent tilling of the soil.

"And we've designed these disks to fold up into an industry-leading transport dimension of 16 feet, 3 inches and a transport height of 13 feet," emphasizes Wendt. "Producers will appreciate the extra maneuverability when moving from field to field on narrow roads, under bridges or near urban areas."

Other features include castering front stabilizer wheels which are integrated into the depth-control hydraulics which help to maintain smooth performance in rough or variable field conditions. The rock shaft bearings utilize a high-density polymer bearing sleeve for reduced maintenance.

"Not only that, but we've increased the weight per blade to 210 pounds for more aggressive penetration to size and bury stalks in the fall. Plus, the 637 Five-section Disks are designed for long-lasting, durable performance and are backed by a three-year warranty," concludes Wendt.

The new disks will be available this fall. Contact your local John Deere dealer for details or visit our Web site at www.JohnDeere.com/Ag.
