DEERE & COMPANY JOINS U.S. CLIMATE ACTION PARTNERSHIP; COMPANY BRINGS ADDED PERSPECTIVE ON RENEWABLE ENERGY TO GROUP

MOLINE, IL (March 26, 2007) — Deere & Company announced today its membership in the U.S. Climate Action Partnership (USCAP), which endorses market-based programs and a federal-level solution for reducing greenhouse gases.

Formed this year, USCAP is an alliance of major businesses and leading climate and environmental groups calling for federal legislation requiring significant reductions of greenhouse gas emissions.

"USCAP proposes a coherent and valuable framework that can lead to realistic solutions and timely actions," said Robert W. Lane, chairman and chief executive officer of Deere & Company. "We believe John Deere lends an added perspective on biofuels and renewable energy sources that will assist in this important effort."

Lane said that by joining USCAP, Deere reinforces its commitment to helping find policy solutions that appropriately consider the needs of John Deere customers. Consistent with USCAP's design principles, Deere believes effective policy to address global climate change ought to include the benefits of developing and supporting renewable energy sources such as biomass – both agriculture and forestry, wind and bio-technologies, as well as processing and distribution improvements.

John Deere (Deere & Company - NYSE:DE) is the world's leading provider of advanced products and services for agriculture and forestry and a major provider of advanced products and services for construction, lawn and turf care, landscaping and irrigation. John Deere also provides financial services worldwide and manufactures and markets engines used in heavy equipment. Since it was founded in 1837, the company has extended its heritage of integrity, quality, commitment and innovation around the globe.
