NEW JOHN DEERE GATOR™ COMPACT SERIES: PACKED WITH POWER, VERSATILITY AND COMFORT

Cary, N.C. (January 20, 2006) — Since joining the John Deere family two years ago, the Gator Compact Series has proven itself to be one of the most versatile and easy-to-use utility vehicles a homeowner could have for yard-and-garden chores. Now, for the 2006 model year, John Deere is introducing new enhancements designed to help the handy Gator CS and Gator CX deliver even more performance, comfort, and value.

New features to the Compact Series include triple-rate spring-over-shock front and rear suspension, with adjustable preload for optimal ride quality even with heavy loads. Added isolation of the frame from the engine and transmission carrier helps reduce vehicle sound levels while improving overall sound quality. The new seat base improves comfort, entry and exit, and "in-the-seat" feel. Knobby tires, available on the Gator CX, provide increased traction for all types of terrain.

"One test drive of the Gator Compact Series is all it takes for customers to see just how practical, affordable, and useful these machines can be around the home," says David Thorne, John Deere Group Brand Marketing Manager for Vehicles. "The compact design of the Gator CS and CX makes them easier to maneuver in tight space, while the towing and pulling capabilities combined with the variety of attachments will remind customers just how powerful and versatile these machines are."

The 249cc Gator CS and 284cc Gator CX are equipped with a cargo box with a 400-pound, 5-cubic foot storage capacity, and are available with more than 20 optional attachments, which include a new 10-cubic-foot all-terrain utility cart, 25-gallon bed sprayer, cargo box extensions for additional cargo capacity, and vehicle and seat covers.

Since the needs of customers vary, John Deere also offers optional packages for the Compact Gator. The Property Care Package, ideal for day-to-day landscape and maintenance chores around the home, includes a cargo box power lift kit, front bumper and rear hitch. The Transporter Package, ideal for customers using the Compact Gator for transporting passengers, includes a sun canopy, floor mat and brake and tail light kit.
