Do you have a claim?

We’ve made our claims process as simple and straightforward as possible. Should you ever find yourself needing to make a claim, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:
  • First, contact your agent. We find it helpful if you’re prepared to provide the following information:
    • Name
    • Cellphone number
    • Policy number (if possible)
    • Fields affected and their FSN numbers (if possible)
    • Any acreage and/or production reporting (if available)
  • Once your claim is assigned, your adjuster will contact you within 48 hours to set up an on-site inspection meeting.
  • Please plan to be available to accompany your adjuster during the on-site inspection. If you cannot be present, please plan to have an individual available who knows the location of all affected fields and production. At this time, your adjuster will explain the specifics of your claim.
  • Occasionally, a claim will require special processing. These claims may require additional processing time and/or paperwork from you to be completed. For example, federal law requires us to conduct a review on all claims of $200,000 or more, for which we examine production history from the previous three years. Your adjuster will let you know if special processing is required to complete your claim.
  • Most claims are paid via mail or ACH deposit within 14 days. If you don’t receive a check within that time frame, please contact us at 1-866-404-9057. A proof of loss notification also will also arrive separately, prior to your payment.

Q: Why do preventive plant claims take so long?

A: Acreage reports from the FSA are required to process the claim and provide payment. Additionally, a single crop that has an aggregate of claims types of $200,000 or more requires three years of actual production history to complete the field claim review—this typically takes 10 to14 additional business days.

Q: When is my premium statement due?

A: August 15 for spring crops. If paid before October 1, no interest will incur. If paid after October 1, interest accrued beginning September 1 will be assessed.

Q: Why is the premium taken out of indemnity checks?

A: It is a federal requirement of Multi-Peril Crop Insurance.
