Employee Testimonials

Career Development

Kim Goodley"I was pleasantly surprised by the support I was given to learn and grow within my position. The amount of training and development was sincerely appreciated and I took full advantage of benefits like learning more technical education and skills for my role as well as furthering my formal education. I completed my MBA within the first few years of being employed at John Deere."

Andrew Colosky"During my last summer in college, I was able to get an internship at John Deere. At this time we were in the middle of the recession so there were not a lot of internships to be found and many of those offered were later rescinded by those companies. John Deere proved that they were committed to their employees and that they were stable enough to handle the bad times. For me that was a very desirable quality of John Deere."

Work/Life Balance

Meghann Junge "I can honestly say that I love my job. Being a wife and mom of two, my personal life is very important to me. Being able to close things up at the end of the day to enjoy my family is priceless. I know that anyone on my team would step up and help out another at any time. Having fun at work and even setting up outside of work activities has really brought our team closer."

Hands-on experience

Amy Jones"In my first internship, I expected to learn how to brew coffee and make copies. That expectation was blown away when I spent the third day of my internship driving a bulldozer. I loved the hands-on parts of the work and found out that I thrived when given a project that I could own. That kind of experience was worth so much more than a paycheck. I went back to school energized and excited about what I was going to accomplish."

Networking Opportunities

Stephanie Jantz"I recently joined the WomenREACH employee resource group. It supports women in the workplace. I have had the opportunity to go on networking lunches and attend seminars. As a group, we are volunteering for the United Way Summer Backpack program by filling bags with food for children that don’t get enough food during the summer months."

Karen Buerkle"Each facility has its own culture, and the location I am at feels like a small family-business. I come to work every day and feel like I personally can make an impact. My coworkers, managers, and the people on the shop floor feel like family to me; we share laughs, frustrations, family stories, and successes together. With this environment, I know that I have a voice in making decisions and when I execute, I go home feeling a sense of personal accomplishment.."

Location Testimonials

Lynn Bestold, Davenport, IA

Lynn Bestold“I have lived in the Quad Cities for almost 14 years – I moved here right after college. One of the first things I discovered is that running is very popular here and there are so many great trails and races to participate in! The Bix 7 has always been one of my favorite races – I even lived in a house on the Bix race course for 8 years.

Now that I have children, I also appreciate the wonderful schools that the Quad Cities has to offer and the family-oriented activities such as museums, parks, and pools. The Quad Cities is a great place to raise children. Also, my short commute to work with minimal traffic allows me to spend more time with my family each day.”

Thomas Kennedy, Dubuque, IA

Thomas Kennedy“Coming from central Illinois, I never viewed Iowa as a place that I wanted to move, but after having lived in Dubuque, I would have trouble moving back. Dubuque’s rolling hills and proximity to the Mississippi River make the opportunities for outdoor pastimes endless. With snow skiing, boating, hunting, and hiking, Dubuque has it all. With the stereotypical Midwestern hospitality and small town feel, it took no time at all for me and my wife to call Dubuque our home.”

John Rudy, Quad Cities

John Rudy"Having lived most of my life on the east coast, moving to the Midwest and the Quad Cities was a big change for my family. However, it has been a very positive experience for us. The area has a number of activities for children of all ages and the community is very welcoming to relocating families. We are very happy that we chose to move to the Quad Cities."

David Gordon, Fargo, ND

David Gordon"Out of high school, I joined the Air Force and had the opportunity to live in Illinois and Delaware. After engineering school, I went to where my experience in Avionics electronics could be applied so I lived in Phoenix, Arizona and Minneapolis, Minnesota. With a young family we wanted to move out of the city. I did not know there was a company in Fargo, North Dakota like John Deere Electronic Solutions which develops robust electronics. I was intrigued with the opportunity and it has been a great place to live and work for the past 15 years! The school systems are great, the amateur sports scene has a lot of opportunities for participation, there are enthusiastic college sports fans, and outdoor activities such as Minnesota lakes or the North Dakota outdoors offer year round, four seasons activities. Fargo offers a safe and rewarding work/life experience."

Dawn Haugen, Valley City, ND

Dawn Haugen"I grew up on a farm and today I own a farm with my husband. Agriculture is a big part of my life. Working for such a remarkable company like John Deere gives me pride knowing that this company is dedicated to understanding customer needs. The integrity and commitment that John Deere has is something that isn’t easily seen in many other companies. I take pride in working for John Deere!"
