Climate Change -- Our Actions

Facility energy efficiency, sustainable product design, and advanced research and development in alternative energy are ways in which we are addressing climate change. For example:

  • Designing Energy Efficiency Into Our Facilities:
Our new factory in Montenegro, Brazil, is incorporating minimal energy use principles, from selection of energy-efficient motors to lighting design and energy management systems.

  • Researching and Promoting Alternative Energy:
John Deere supports the goal of providing 25% of U.S. energy requirements from renewable sources by 2025. Besides using biofuels, such as biodiesel, to fuel new products and promoting its development and use, the company has significant interest in alternative energy sources, including wind energy.

  • Providing Fuel-Efficient Products for Consumers:
      • The 2500E Hybrid Greens Mower is designed to meet the demanding needs of golf course superintendents and other turf grass professionals who place a high value on fuel efficiency, reduced hydraulic leaks and sound levels, quality of cut, ease of operation, and ease of service.
      • The 240D LC, 270D LC and 350D LC Excavators feature the PowerTech Plus™ John Deere engine and Powerwise™ III/hydraulic management system that maximizes power output, saves fuel, and delivers smooth multifunction hydraulic operation. Each excavator has low emissions and noise.
      • The 7430 and 7530 E Premium tractors have an integrated electric distribution system where a generator provides electric power for auxiliaries like the air conditioning compressor, engine cooling fan drive, and air brake compressor. As a result, these tractors offer more power at lower engine speeds with increased fuel economy.
