Quality at John Deere Today

John Deere integrates quality throughout its processes. Quality means delivering the value that customers, employees, shareholders and other business partners expect, every time we interact with them.

John Deere integrates quality throughout its processes. From the John Deere Production System, which incorporates quality throughout the design and manufacturing process, to the industry-leading Achieving Excellence process, which provides continuous feedback on performance and quality to John Deere suppliers, more than 47,000 John Deere employees strive to meet and exceed the expectations of customers every day.

The direction for John Deere's quality journey today was set in the early 1990s by the company's newly established Executive Quality Council. Under the guidance of then-CEO Hans Becherer, the council used the seven Malcolm Baldrige criteria to establish the key processes necessary for the company's success in the future.

Many John Deere units have been recognized with state or national quality awards. These include sales branches in Dallas, Texas; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Milan, Italy (customer satisfaction award); and factories in Horicon, Wisconsin and Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. In early 2006, John Deere Power Products in Greeneville, Tennessee, was named as a finalist for the Shingo Prize for manufacturing excellence.

Since 1992, 36 John Deere facilities have been registered to the ISO9000 quality standard.
