John Deere Welland Works Earns Health and Safety Award

July 6, 2007 – John Deere Welland (Ontario) Works has earned a Level III Health & Safety Achievement Award from the Industrial Accident Prevention Association (IAPA), a leading Canadian workplace health and safety organization.

To qualify for the top-level award, companies must show that they maintain comprehensive workplace health and safety programs that address management and employee safety practices, legislative compliance, and lost-time injury reporting requirements. Welland Works has surpassed 5.3 million employee work hours over the past three years without a lost-time injury.

IAPA conducted an on-site verification of the facility May 24.

John Deere Welland Works is the 10th company to receive the award since the program began in 2002. The award reflects a commitment and pro-active approach to improving workplace health and safety, Maureen Shaw, IAPA President and CEO, said in an announcement issued by the association.

John Deere Welland Works makes rotary cutters, utility vehicles and loaders.
