John Deere Iberica S.A. Earns Health and Safety Certification

(October 9, 2007) – John Deere Iberica S.A., Getafe (Madrid), Spain, has achieved OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) 18001 certification from the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification, AENOR. The certification recognizes management systems aimed at keeping employees healthy and safe, in compliance with national and international regulations.

Achieving OHSAS 18001 certification took two years for John Deere Iberica S.A. to accomplish, according to Angel Rodriguez Marcos, Safety and Security Director. Key factors evaluated in the certification process include risk assessment of the whole factory, special supervisor training on safety and ergonomics, safety inspections and procedures for all activities, weekly safety meetings and safety campaigns, safety rates, and improvements in industrial hygiene areas such as noise, chemicals and heat.

John Deere Iberica S.A. makes gearboxes, final drives, gears, shafts, 3-point hitches and other components for John Deere manufacturing facilities.
