A Guide to Green Forest Machines

(April 25, 2006) – A new guide from John Deere's forestry group is the company's latest offering for environmentally aware forestry professionals.

The environmental guide, titled "Green Forest Machines," is the fourth in a series from John Deere's forestry group. It combines information from the previous brochures with up-to-date facts about the company's line of cut-to-length forestry products from design to end of life.

The guide is targeted toward forestry operators and contractors, said Marica Kilponen, who was the author of the document. However, it would also be effective for other forestry professionals like forest company representatives, she said.

The guide discusses the eco-friendly features of John Deere's line of forwarders, tree harvesters and the 1490D slash bundler. Feedback about the three previous brochures also prompted Kilponen to include a section on healthy forests and minimizing the impact of forest operations. "This should serve the needs of forestry schools as well," she said.
