John Deere Foundation Funding Guidelines

If you are considering seeking funding from the John Deere Foundation, please read the following guidelines and restrictions carefully and thoroughly. They have been created to help us in our decision-making process.

John Deere places a high priority on improving the quality of life in the areas it serves. In general, the company supports projects in communities where John Deere has a major presence (manufacturing facilities, sales branches, and parts depots), making those places better places to live and work. (While John Deere dealerships are critical to our company's success, they are independent businesses, and are not considered company locations.)

The John Deere Foundation gives priority to applications that fall in its four major program areas: health and human services; education; community development; and arts and culture. Only organizations that have 501(c)(3) tax status under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code are eligible for Foundation grants.

All grant requests must be made in writing. We accept proposals throughout the year. Grants are awarded upon:

  • availability of funds
  • effectiveness of requestor's program
  • impact upon John Deere employees
  • demonstrated level of community support

Restrictions

The John Deere Foundation does not fund:

  • individuals
  • religious organizations for sectarian purposes
  • athletic organizations or sports programs
  • political campaigns or organizations
  • other foundations solely for purposes of increasing an endowment
  • tax-supported entities, such as schools, police/fire departments, municipalities, etc.
  • fraternal organizations or sororities
