Barry Schaffter

Barry Schaffter is Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Deere & Company, a position he has held since November 2009. He is responsible for the development and implementation of Deere's global Information Technology strategy.

Schaffter joined John Deere in 1973 as a supervisor trainee at the John Deere Waterloo Works. He has held a variety of manufacturing and management positions, including General Manager, John Deere Ottumwa Works and John Deere Des Moines Works, Vice President of John Deere Ag Management Solutions, and General Manager, John Deere Waterloo Works. Prior to his current position, he was Senior Vice President, Engineering and Manufacturing for the Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division.

Schaffter holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla.

Schaffter is a member of the board of the Academy of Engineering Management at the University of Missouri-Rolla. He is also a member of the board of directors of Living History Farms, and a board member of Junior Achievement of the Heartland and the Iowa Business Council.
