Mertroe B. Hornbuckle is Vice President, Human Resources for Deere & Company, a position he has held since July 1995. In his position, Hornbuckle oversees worldwide salaried and hourly policies, programs, and plans related to health care, pension, direct and indirect compensation, general benefits, learning and development, human resources shared services, occupational health, and executive total compensation. He has global responsibility for inclusion and diversity, succession planning, leadership development, the performance management process, and total rewards strategy.

Hornbuckle joined Deere & Company in May 1975, after beginning his career in human resources with Ford Motor Company in 1969. His first appointment was as Manager, Personnel at the John Deere Des Moines Works. He was promoted to progressively more responsible corporate-level assignments, including Manager, Personnel Administration; Division Manager and Senior Division Manager, Personnel. Prior to being appointed to his current position, he served as Director, Compensation, Benefits & Employee Development.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Hornbuckle holds a bachelor of arts degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. He is a member of the Human Resources Roundtable, Personnel Roundtable, HR Policy Organization, and the Advisory Council on Human Resources.
