Michael A. Harring is Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, North America, Deere & Company, a position he's held since March 2008. Harring leads Deere's law services supporting the company's operations and growth initiatives in North America. He also has merger and acquisition and commercial law responsibilities and acts as liaison to the C&CE division.

Harring joined the Deere & Company Law department in 1984. Prior to being named to his present position, he served as Associate General Counsel, Commercial Law and Mergers and Acquisitions and Associate General Counsel and Manager of Law Department Administration, Corporate Secretary, Assistant General Counsel, Senior Attorney, and Attorney. He was in private practice with the Chicago law firm of Pope, Ballard, Shepard and Fowle, Ltd., after serving in the Division of Corporation Finance at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.

Harring is a graduate of the University of Illinois (Champaign), and received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law.

He co-authored Designing an Effective Securities Compliance Program, part of a ten-volume series of books focusing on compliance programs for the publicly-held corporation. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
