For More Performance and Productivity: New Deere Track Feller Bunchers

MOLINE, Illinois. (September 12, 2007)—With a redesigned hydraulic system, improved multi-functioning and a best-in-class cutting swath that’s increased by more than 50 percent, the new John Deere 700J Series Track Feller Bunchers (753J and 759J) deliver better overall performance than ever before.

"The enhancements to the 700J machines deliver myriad improvements—performance, reliability and easier maintenance all have received a boost," said Elliott Little, product marketing manager for John Deere Construction & Forestry. "With the right configuration, these machines are ideal for multiple applications and terrain, including thinning, regeneration, swamps and steep ground."

Key among the 700J Series machine improvements is the new hydraulic system that delivers a higher level of performance and enhanced multi-functioning capabilities. Hydraulic flow is increased by 26 percent for better productivity. Additionally, the hydraulic system is able to prioritize so that each hydraulic function is capable of full torque or effort all of the time, resulting in a significant boost in power. It adjusts the power levels to send power to the area where it’s needed most and ensures that the saw circuit receives full power-on-demand. The result is improved saw recovery time and prevention of "slow-down" by keeping power from being drained from any one area of the hydraulics. Fuel economy also is improved due to the highly efficient, flow-compensated hydraulic system.

Enhanced boom performance heightens productivity by making maneuverability more efficient and minimizing cutting time. Boom geometry has been redesigned to achieve best-in-class minimum and maximum cutting reach. An impressive 50 percent increase in cutting swath allows operators to make a wide range of strategic and productive cuts with less tracking and traveling required.

Other design elements improve uptime, including a new PowerView™ monitor with enhanced diagnostics. An optional fan system reverses air flow, purging the cooling system. The attachment valve has been relocated to improve overall felling head efficiency and cycle times. And the simpler hydraulic system design—with 100 fewer feet of hoses and tubes and 20 fewer connections—features a cleaner layout and a new hydraulic pump drive gearbox, making service and maintenance easier and faster than ever.

"These machines are quick on their feet—with other equipment, the operator is waiting on it to perform the next function. With the 700J Series, the machine is waiting on the operator," said Little. "The productivity is just incredible. It’s almost as if the machine is saying, 'catch me if you can.'"
