Keeping Costs Low

Keeping Costs Low

Productivity, Uptime, Low Daily Operating Costs. This is the John Deere Forestry’s commitment to the customer. So how are they doing? How exactly does John Deere keep operating costs low for loggers? The answer to that is extensive; there are, in fact, many ways that John Deere forestry equipment steps up to the challenge of keeping costs low.

Across the spectrum of forestry equipment available to John Deere customers, it is safe to say that cost savings is most noticeable at the fuel pump. Fuel efficiency is key to keeping costs low when working with such vigorous equipment, and John Deere accomplishes this in many ways – without sacrificing power and productivity.

It starts with the engine, but does not stop there. All John Deere forest machines are equipped with powerful diesel engines, which deliver excellent fuel economy with high torque at low rpms. Simply put, these engines save fuel and money by using power on demand; no energy is wasted. Combined with top-engineered hydraulics, they provide all the power you need when you need it, and at minimal cost to the environment. All John Deere engines are designed to meet or exceed even the toughest emission standards.

Keeping Costs Low

John Deere hydraulics are built around a well-planned layout and design. Larger diameter hoses are used to reduce pressure loss. Higher working pressure with lower hydraulic flow allows you to work faster, with more power, and on less fuel, which translates to more savings. John Deere machines not only use fuel more efficiently, but less fuel is needed overall thanks to carefully thought out details like long-reaching cranes. John Deere cranes can extend beyond 30 feet in many cases to get what you need from the forest without excessively moving around, thereby minimizing travel and fuel used at a particular work site. In the same way, high-walker undercarriages, wide approach angles, and flexible bogies allow the operator to get to the stump with minimal energy expenditure.

Computer-assisted technology brings the cost-saving efficiency inside the cab. When processing or felling, the operator doesn’t need to waste time trying to get things exactly right at the stump. Timbermatic and Total Machine Control take over and make the operator look good, getting a precise cut every time, speeding up the whole process and saving money in the meantime.

Quick maintenance is another advantage to the logger’s pocket book. From the ground up, every John Deere forest machine is designed with easy maintenance in mind. They are designed to work longer between service intervals, so less downtime is necessary to begin with. When it is time to change the oil or perform other maintenance, key access points are either within reach or accessible with the help of a hydraulic lift or tilting cab. Each machine has it’s own solution to minimizing downtime, which once again means more dollars in your pocket at the end of the day.

Keeping Costs Low

John Deere is helping loggers get top dollar by building equipment that is highly productive and fuel efficient. They provide creative solutions when it comes to keeping costs low, because their bottom line is the same as yours – productivity, uptime, and low daily operating costs.
