The 1490D Energy Wood Bundler has a dual advantage – it produces biomass energy and clears the forest floor of slash.
The Energy Wood Bundler or Harvester , uses its long-reaching boom and loader mechanism to pick up the tops of trees and branches leftover from tree harvesting and puts them into the feeder.
The bundler unit, integrated with Total Machine Control for smooth operation, very tightly compresses, wraps and cuts a slash log – usually about ten feet long and 24-32 inches in diameter. Each bundle typically weighs between nine hundred to thirteen hundred pounds, or four hundred to six hundred kilograms.
These logs can be transported and used as biomass fuel. Each log provides about one megawatt hour of energy, equal to the electricity produced by 21 to 28 gallons of oil.
The 1490D harvester combines all the usual comforts of a John Deere machine for a stress-free shift. The interior of the cab is quiet, comfortable, and climate-controlled, and meets all ISO protection standards. Visibility is excellent in all directions, and the operator seat and mini-grip hand controls are ergonomically designed to keep productivity high. The cab can be raised and shifted to the side for easy service access.
The 1490D Energy Wood Bundler is powered by a turbocharged John Deere diesel engine. The six-cylinder engine is electronically controlled with low emission levels, high torque rise and responsive power bulge in the work range.
The bundler meets the needs of forest health demands by keeping the forest floor clear of potential fuel for wild fires. The biomass technology behind the 1490D Energy Wood Bundler is another example of the dependability of John Deere forest machines.
