Dream Big with a 1070D

Dream Big with a 1070D

Light-footed and flexible, processing wood is a pleasure with the John Deere 1070D wheeled harvester. It’s smaller size makes it ideal for tight spaces, but it has the strength and spirit to accomplish big things.

Vigorous and Smooth
At the heart of the 1070D is John Deere’s fuel-efficient 6068H turbocharged diesel PowerTech™ engine. Deere’s PowerTech technology boasts excellent fuel economy with high torque at low rpms. On the 1070D, the impressive six-cylinder 6068H provides 173 hp (129 kW) at 2,000 rpm, and a maximum net torque of 575 lbf (780 Nm) at 1,300 – 1,400 rpm. Simply put, the 1070D is a vigorous harvesting machine.

Part of the 1070D’s vigor is a parallel boom and hydraulic system that is fast, accurate, and very user-friendly. The hydraulic system is engineered with large diameter hoses and piping that reduce pressure loss. The boom’s highly efficient design allows for fluid movement of the head directly to the tree, making the most of valuable time in the forest.

The powerful boom has four different lengths available, and can reach far into tight stands from a wide corridor – adding to the machine’s flexibility. The 1070D is right-sized for high volume in most thinnings and selective cuts in both plantation and natural stands, and for some regeneration harvesting, the 1070D harvester works comfortably on rough ground and in dense stands.

Below the quick action of the boom and hydraulics, the reliable axles offer generous ground clearance with high tractive effort for the most challenging terrain. The front of the 1070D rides on industry-exclusive balanced bogie axles, which not only match the rear end in ground clearance and traction, but also significantly reduce ground pressure. Optional bogie tracks reduce ground pressure even further for extremely sensitive areas.

Room With a View
The 1070D cab can be mounted on a leveling platform, which tilts ten degrees to each side. This allows the operator to get a better view of his situation from inside the cab, but sight lines are excellent before leveling. Large tinted polycarbonate cab windows encompass the operator and emphasize the view in all directions, so he doesn’t have to miss a thing. The front window has a windshield wiper and washer, and all windows have sun shades. The rear window doubles as a secondary exit.

Clear visibility is part of the ergonomic design of the cab interior. The operator sits comfortably in a heated air suspension seat, adjustable to the individual’s weight and height. And for additional ergonomic support, the hand controls and keypads are mounted right to the armrests, so the operator is not constantly reaching to manipulate the machine.

The joystick controls are part of the advanced Timbermatic 300 all-in-one management system with Total Machine Control, or TMC. Together, these computer systems optimize production, timber measurement and basic machine functions. Total Machine Control is the real brains of the machine, managing the engine, transmission, and boom right at the head to ensure for precise cutting and processing of the wood. Timbermatic 300 lets the operator know exactly what’s going on through the display on the monitor.

Ahead of the Rest
When it comes to the processing head on the 1070D, you have your choice of the 745 or optional H754. Both heads come in four-wheel drive and offer impressive strength, speed, and accuracy. These reliable harvesting heads are precise and productive in all conditions. Quick and smooth feeding, combined with cutting and delimbing accuracy give you the quality results you need. Feed rollers and head motors can be matched to your particular needs.

John Deere’s 1070D wheeled harvester is a spunky machine. It’s a smaller processor compared to the 1270D, but powerful and efficient just the same. Whether you’re working thinning or regeneration harvesting, the 1070D is a great start to a profitable outcome.
