The New 909J & 959J Feller Bunchers

John Deere Feller BuncherMeet the newest member of the John Deere forestry equipment lineup: the 909J and 959J Feller Bunchers. Officially launched this summer, these new tracked machines come loaded with advantages. And talk about versatility – the 909J can be adapted to harvesting applications, too.

It all starts with the John Deere 6081H diesel engine that generates 294 maximum horsepower. Combine that with a new high-production crank and link boom, high-flow hydraulics, and outstanding saw blade power, and you get best-in-class multi-functioning that enables you to cut and cut like you’ve never done before.

Do More and Spend Less on Daily Operating Costs

Not only do the J-Series Feller Bunchers offer more power and more productivity, but they save you time and the daily costs of operating equipment.

The new J-Series Feller Bunchers feature strong components and smart designs, making it more reliable than ever. Machine durability is increased with the boom that’s built with a large cross-section design. In addition, servicing the undercarriage is easy with the bolt-through-track roller mounting design. Perhaps one of the best examples of these new feller bunchers’ industry-leading reliability is in its track design. The tilting undercarriage has large pivot joints with 5.5-inch forward-tilt pins and 7-inch side-tilt pins. High-capacity thrust bearings are adjustable to keep the tilt mechanism tight throughout the machine life. Plus, each bearing surface has its own dedicated grease fitting for positive lubrication.

These machines offer best-in-class service access with a hinged door for the radiator and cooling system, and repositioned doors and added walkways from cab to engine.

The best-in-class leveling system, with smooth-cushioned control, keeps the center of gravity over the tracks for unsurpassed stability in steep slopes and rough ground. 294 maximum horsepower, with high capacity attachment circuit, gives these big bunchers industry-leading multi-functioning capabilities and optimum saw blade power for out-and-out productivity. And the redesigned cab features increased window visibility for a clear view down to the tracks.

A Head Above the Rest

Forestry equipment from John DeereThe new B-Series Felling Heads can take your full-tree operation to the next level. New design features boost your productivity by increasing accumulation capacities and clamping. The 909J comes standard with the FS22B head, and the high-rotation FR22B is optional. The FS24 is the standard head on the 959J, and the FS22B and FR22B are optional.

The B-Series felling heads feature a wider-spaced design to allow for better stem alignment; high accumulation gathering arms pull stems into the offset pocket. The saw motor is rotated 90 degrees for easy access from both sides of the head; controlled tooth opening, tapered saw housing and increased radial blade clearance provide best-in-class debris management. The patented three-piece saw housing is bolted, not welded, for optimum serviceability. The wear plate helps extend the life of the saw housing.

An Advanced Harvester with Advanced Leveling

The new 909J Harvester incorporates the stability, power, tractive effort and leveling system of the bunching machines, and adds a purpose-built harvesting boom with the choice of two heads for high productivity in steep-slope applications.

The versatile Waratah harvesting heads are big-time producers whether working at the landing, roadside or felling and processing in the woods.

The HTH622B cuts timber up to 30 inches (762 mm) in diameter and can process stems up to 24 inches (610 mm). It’s perfect for felling, delimbing, measuring and bucking.

The HTH624 is proven in medium to large wood up to 31 inches (780 mm) in diameter. It works best in felling stands where 80% of the trees are 20 inches (508 mm) or more. It can produce at the landing, roadside, or processing at the stump.

The design of the purpose-built harvester boom boasts a wide-cutting swath and long reach.
