Deere Streamlines Governmental Spec Writing Through Updated Online Tool
MOLINE, Ill. (June 12, 2002) Updates to the John Deere Best Bid Web site - an online tool to help governmental buyers create requests for construction equipment proposals deliver easier navigation and more information than ever before.
The changes at www.BestBid.com include two new sections, called “Newsroom” and “Spotlight,” that highlight new features on the site, as well as expanded spec information that allows the user to compare Deere machines to virtually any competitive machine on the market. Easy-to-use navigation menus on every page allow users to easily go from one page to another within the site.
BestBid.com, which has been online since 1996, takes governmental buyers step-by-step through the process of writing specifications for four-wheel-drive loaders, backhoe loaders, motor graders, crawlers, skid steers and excavators. It also helps users analyze bids and determine which machine and which acquisition choice is right for the job.
“The goal of BestBid.com is to guide the governmental buyer in creating an effective, informed request for proposal that will help them get the best equipment available for the job,” said Sandra Bridge-Chase, Manager, Governmental Sales, John Deere Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division. “It provides all of the information needed to achieve this goal, and thanks to numerous navigational updates, is easier than ever to use.”
BestBid.com also includes features to help governmental procurement specialists understand specific job requirements; performance and productivity requirements; and how to effectively evaluate machine performance, specs and life cycle costs against competitive equipment. Bid award criteria and information about acquisition choices are included, as well as a multi-lingual, worldwide dealer locator and extensive warranty information.
The site attracts users from all over the world, according to Bridge-Chase. “The recent site update continues Deere’s focus on meeting the needs and information requirements of those writing governmental specs,” she said. “The site’s extensive comparison features make selecting construction equipment quick and easy.”
