Blacksmith Shop
This exhibit recreates the original blacksmith's shop and depicts one of the most prestigious trades practiced in the days of old. It was here that Deere developed the self-polishing steel plow that opened the prairie to agriculture.
Generally, five to seven times a day, resident blacksmith Rick Trahan demonstrates just what it takes to be a skilled iron worker. Not only informational, his demonstrations are interactive and entertaining! The dirt floor, antique equipment and giant forge give a genuine look and feel to this exhibit.
Wares made in the blacksmith shop can be purchased at the site's gift shop.
