Symptoms
Not able to adjust the flow from Electric SCV (ESCV) accurately enough for some applications.
Situation or Problem
Only able to adjust the flow in 10% increments, which is too large for some applications.
Summary
To accurately adjust the flow for certain applications (example would be hydraulic motor),a second valve may be required in the circuit.
First step is to adjust the tractor flow down as much as possible (using flow control adjustment in the tractor) and still provide adequate flow for proper operation. If this does not provide adequate control (one setting gives too much oil flow and the next step down gives too little flow), set the tractor valve as close as possible to provide adequate flow.
Then install a second valve between the pressure line leaving the tractor and the application (hydraulic motor for example) to further reduce the flow and provide the final adjustment for proper operation. Depending on the application, a possible valve would be AA38545, which is used on planter vacuum motors.
Important: Installing a separate flow control in line will cause the main hydraulic pump to run at stall pressure constantly, causing additional heat and wear on the pump.
