With the Harvest Doc Cotton system, cotton producers will be able to document and map their cotton yields with the GreenStar™ system and their John Deere 9986 and 9996 cotton pickers. The Harvest Doc Cotton system enables producers to generate detailed cotton yield maps to help them make better and more informed management decisions.
Harvest Doc Cotton uses the GreenStar common components (StarFire™ iTC receiver, GreenStar display and mobile processor), KeyCard software and Data Storage card in the machine. Back in the office, Apex software can be used to generate detailed yield data.
The Cotton Yield Map from Apex shows where yield variance happened throughout the field. Also printed on the map is the total number of acres harvested, harvest date, average yield, and harvest hours for the customer, farm, and field. While harvesting, the GreenStar display will provide the operator with a number of items, including lint yield, load weight, GPS and recording status, cotton variety, area, and distance covered.
Measuring Cotton Yield
Each sensor transmits a beam of microwave energy through its respective plastic duct, illuminated the stream of flowing cotton. A portion of this energy reflects off the moving piece of cotton and returns to the sensor where the reflected energy is detected.
By using microwave technology, no holes are required to be cut into the duct during installation of the sensors.
