John Deere Loader Suspension System

Raising the bar on loader productivity

Loader Suspension System If you use your loader often, there are a few factors that you should consider. Going too fast over rough terrain can cause damage to the load, and cause wear and tear on your tractor and loader - as well as make for an uncomfortable ride.

For example, increasing your travel speed would increase your productivity, but you might do so at the expense of your load and your equipment.

“Customers often ask how they can make their tractor and loader last longer, and make their material handling applications more productive,” says Dan Wilson, marketing representative, John Deere Welland Works. “We have a great answer to that question with the Loader Suspension System.”

A John Deere tractor and loader with LSS can:

  • • Increase safe travel speeds so you can move material faster
  • • Reduce cargo damage - less movement to load being carried
  • Add life to loader pins and bushings
  • Reduce stress on tractor front axle (does not replace various tractor axle suspension system available)
  • Increase operator comfort

How does LSS work?

A nitrogen accumulator, connected to the head-end lift cylinder, allows the lift cylinder to extend and retract, providing shock absorption to the load.

“Think of LSS as being very similar to the accumulator on a combine header. The LSS uses an accumulator which ties into the hydraulic system, specifically the boom head-end lift cylinder,” Wilson says.

The accumulator responds to pressure changes, by allow moving the boom cylinders in and out. This provides suspension to the load.

The accumulator is mounted where it is protected and does not obstruct visibility for loader work. A handle on the nitrogen accumulator is used to turn the LSS on and off — LSS is not needed when digging or backblading.

Operator comfort is a key benefit. “A properly ballasted tractor equipped with the Loader Suspension System will be more stable, as well, creating a smoother ride for the operator,” Wilson says.

“LSS will improve your productivity in many ways. Fields and roads are not perfectly smooth, yet LSS allows the tractor and loader to have higher transport speeds. You can work comfortably over frozen, hard-packed, or rutted terrain.”

Add LSS to your loader for moving pallets of seed, fertilizer, nursery trees, fruit and hay bales. LSS is currently available on the 522, 542, 620, 640, 721,726, 740 and 741 loaders.
