Heavy wheat straw is no match for the John Deere 567 Round Baler

Last August, Casey Schlauderaff, a dairy farmer from Detroit Lakes, Minn., was presented with a challenge ... a local farmer wanted Schlauderaff to follow his five rotary combines through a 400-acre field of wheat and turn the dry, slick straw into round straw bales. The only catch? Schlauderaff had to finish at the same time as the combines so the farmer could get his fall tillage done for sugar beet planting next Spring.

456 Round Baler Schlauderaff wanted the job. But he realized his competitive model round baler wouldn’t be up for the task. He needed a tougher baler with more capacity that could bale short straw. While Schlauderaff’s neighbors said it couldn’t be done, a family friend in Montana recommended Casey look into using a John Deere.

Schlauderaff decided to take his friend’s advice and purchased a 567 Round Baler with MegaWide pickup. It easily stood up to the challenge.

With speeds up to 12 miles per hour in the field, Casey and his 567 Baler had no problem getting the job done on time. When all was said and done Schlauderaff turned the field into 1,150 five-foot by six-foot CoverEdge™ net wrapped bales.

Schlauderaff also decided to equip his machine with exclusive John Deere CoverEdge net wrap. He believes this, too, helped him bale more efficiently, getting him out of the field on time.

“With our other round baler it would take two or more minutes just to wrap the bale with twine,” says Schlauderaff. “But with the John Deere 567 Round Baler we can make, wrap, and dump an even bigger bale in less than a minute.”

CoverEdge not only helped Schlauderaff bale faster, it helped make the packages stronger, more compact, and easier to handle.

Schlauderaff said he would definitely recommend the 567 Round Baler to others hoping to bale wheat straw. “It’s a baler with extreme capacity,” says Schlauderaff. “There’s no way (other competitive brands) could come close to it in the same conditions.”

Where can I find out more about the 567 Round Baler or any other John Deere baler?
