Emissions Information

Clean air, fuel efficiency and engine performance.

The drive to reduce emissions has been pursued for more than 10 years and has followed a tiered approach (see chart below). In 1996, Stage I regulations set emissions limits on particulate matter and oxides of nitrogen.

On 01 January 2011, Stage III B regulation for non-road emissions (174 – 750 Engine hp) became effective.

This move to Stage III B emissions regulations is unquestionably the most significant to date. The regulations call for a 90-percent reduction in particulate matter (PM), along with a 50-percent drop in nitrogen oxides (NOx). Final Stage IV emissions regulations will take PM and NOx emissions to near-zero levels by 2015.
