John Deere Awards at the Agritechnica Show

John Deere Innovations awarded a gold, a silver medal and other prizes at 2007 Agritechnica

Two John Deere innovations were awarded a gold and a silver medal at this year’s Agritechnica, the world’s largest agricultural equipment trade fair in Hanover (Germany, 13-17 November). The newly designed 7030 E Premium tractor concept received a gold medal for its innovative approach to generate up to 20 kW of electrical power for the supply of key tractor components and for the use of external tools via 230 V and 400 V socket outlets. The new design helps to enhance the tractor’s fuel economy and will ultimately allow to operate implements, electrically instead of applying PTO or hydraulic power.
Innovation of the Year 2008 The gold medal award was handed over by the president of the German Agricultural Society (DLG) Carl - Albrecht Bartmer and the German secretary of agriculture Horst Seehofer to ag division president Markwart von Pentz and the German sales branch manager Helmut Korthöber. "This innovative concept developed by the John Deere Werke Mannheim product engineering team under the able leadership of August Altherr will provide us with additional competitive advantage and further enhance John Deere's product power" noted Markwart von Pentz on the occasion of the award ceremony. "Likewise will the new threshing system of the T-Series combines from Zweibrücken help to improve the competitiveness of our harvesting equipment portfolio in Europe" added von Pentz.
The new threshing system for T-Series combines from Zweibrücken features two massive drums with 660 mm diameter and allows the gentle handling of straw even under high yield conditions. It was awarded a silver medal for its innovative design. The recognition was handed over by DLG president Carl - Albrecht Bartmer to sales branch manager Helmut Korthöber, product line manager Wilhelm Bolhuis of the German branch and to Lutz Bischoff, design engineer of John Deere Werke Zweibrücken at a separate awarding ceremony on the stand of the German Agricultural Society. Both innovative product designs were additionally awarded by key European trade publications: the 7030 E Premium was awarded as “Innovation of the Year 2008” by the contractors magazines Lohnunternehmen (Germany), Loonbedrijf (Netherlands) and Loonwerker (Belgium). The T-Series threshing concept receive a “Machine of the Year Award” from the publishing house “dlv” which produces several leading agricultural trade publications for the German speaking markets.

Another attractive access point for John Deere customers was the stand of the Deere Power Systems Group in Hall 13. Here, impressive cutaway displays illustrated latest Tier 3 engine technology, including a solution for the use of Biodiesel in equipment which runs with John Deere engines.

Youngsters and future John Deere customers enjoyed their Agritechnica visit in the Junior Club, a kindergarten sponsored, operated and capably run by members of John Deere sales promotion department and trained personnel.
