A John Deere Storybook for little folks

One day in early spring, the door to the old shed on the Fowler farm opened wide. Grandpa Fowler, his son, Bob, and grandson, Tad, stood there looking very proudly at their five old tractors.
Wally, the Waterloo Boy; Donald, the old model "D"; Ace, the Model "A"; Mitey, the little Model "M"; and Johnny, the youngest of the old two-cylinder tractors were all there. They were lined up in a neat row just as they were when they came home from the big Family Reunion at Waterloo, Iowa.
Bob Fowler had the morning newspaper in his hand.

Centennial Surprise

"It says here that our town will be one hundred years old this year and the city council is planning a big celebration this summer," Bob said. "They are inviting everyone with an old tractor, car or truck to be in the Centennial Day Parade. I think we ought to take all of our old tractors."
"Why don't we take our brand new tractor, too, dad, so the city folks can see how tractors have changed over the years," replied Tad.
"Good idea," Grandpa said. "It won't take much to spruce up these guys so they'll look their best. That's a good job for you, Tad. I can help you mount old Corny on Johnny Tractor." Corny was the old cornpicker Grandpa Fowler used for years.
Bob Fowler smiled a mysterious smile, winked at Tad and said, "Well, we all are going to have a lot to do to get ready for the Centennial parade, plus all the farm work that's ahead; so we'd better get busy," and he closed the door.
