A relatively new entrant, John Deere in India is growing significantly and is poised for multifaceted growth, as defined by a 4-dimensional strategy that aims to leverage:
- the Indian market for John Deere products
- quality manufacturing capabilities in India
- the talent pool in India and
- cost-effective and quality sourcing.
To expand its global presence in Agricultural equipment, John Deere established the India Tractor business
in 1997 under a ‘50:50’ joint venture with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T). In 2005, John Deere
acquired the remaining shares in the joint venture. The India Tractor business includes a fully integrated manufacturing facility with three focus factories - Engine, Transmission and Vehicle Assembly. Spread over 112 acres with 50,000 m2 of covered area at Sanaswadi, Pune, it produces modern tractors from 35 to 70 HP for both domestic and international markets. These include North & South America, Europe and South East Asia where they have earned a reputation for quality.
Major expansion in 2005 led to the genesis of the John Deere Technology Center – India (TCI), Pune. The center provides services in the areas of IT, Engineering Services, Manufacturing Services, Sourcing, Embedded Systems and Technical Authoring for John Deere’s operations worldwide. |

John Deere Water, formed by the acquisitions of Plastro Irrigation Systems, T-Systems International, and Roberts Irrigation Products, is one of the largest irrigation companies in the world today.
John Deere Water has started activities in India and is actively seeking candidates for the following roles:
- Sales & Marketing (all over India): Sales Engineers, Territory Managers, Area Managers, Irrigation Designers, Agronomists, After Sales Service staff
- Operations (Vadodara, Gujarat): Production, Quality , Maintenance, Stores
- Supply Chain Management (all over India): Logistics, Materials staff
