Genuine John Deere cutterhead knife bolts are Dacromet coated.
Imitators often sell zinc-galvanized bolts that are not Dacromet coated.
During the galvanizing process, hydrogen penetrates the bolt and weakens it. The higher the property class, the higher the effects of hydrogen brittleness, increasing the likelihood of shearing off the bolt head.
