Heat Treatments
Different heat treatments are applied on John Deere chain components to reinforce wear resistance and/or fatigue depending on the component.
Rolled forming for bushes and rollers:
Rollers and bushes are formed from a strip of flat steel. Grain flow of the steel remains un-cut and is oriented towards the stress applied so steel elasticity is able to absorb operating loads.
Tests have been carried out to define how and where a chain gets stressed when working. Using this information John Deere round baler chains are designed to meet high resistance levels and to perform in the toughest conditions.
